Saturday May 27th: 'Lapsia Ja Aikuisia-Kuinka niitä tehdään? / Producing Adults'. Finland' official 2004 Oscar entry.

Producing Adults won the Jussi award for the best script and best supporting actress, the FIPRESCI Prize in the Stockholm

International Film Festival, and the Rosebud award for bust film in the Verzaubert - International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival.

Synopsis: Producing Adults is a comedy about Venla, a psychologist working at an infertility clinic,

who decides to have a baby without telling her husband. Venla is well aware that having children is a big decision

which both parents should consider and agree on. However, her husband is firmly against the idea, and in addition to this,

turns out to be sterile. Venla’s only option seems to be the clinic and the millions of sperms lying dormant in liquid nitrogen.

Venla’s dream about a normal family starts to crumble when her friendship with the female doctor helping her in the fertilisation

process starts to develop into something romantic. In order to get on with her life, Venla has to give up everything she has

and accept everything she hasn’t expected. Producing Adults is a film of the human need to control life, plan,

categorise and produce it. A film of what happens when all those plans fail. A story of a woman who

at the same time experiences the best in life and the worst in life.
