Jan Svankmajer, Prague's alchemist of the surreal, is a Czech animator, film-maker and sculptor, and perhaps one of the most

internationally well-known members of the Czech and Slovak Surrealist Group. And he seems to love mud as much as we do!

The Society for Fair Trade and Development Education (SFTDE) was founded in October 2003 with the objective to raise awareness of the

Czech public about working, social, environmental and economical conditions of production in the global South and about Fair Trade

Ecology

Rising Tide is a grassroots network of independent groups and individuals committed to taking action and building a movement against

climate change. Rising Tide argues that climate change is an issue of social injustice, and is a direct result of the economic domination of

Northern interests and transnational corporations. They call for 'climate justice' through solutions that address structural inequalities and

recognise the historical responsibility of the rich nations for the problem. Rising Tide calls for a just transition to a non-carbon society.

The World Carfree Network, the hub of the global carfree movement, promoting alternatives to car dependence and automobile-based planning

at the international level and working to reduce the human impact on the natural environment while improving the quality of life for all.

Their site is a clearinghouse of information from around the world on how to revitalise our towns and cities and create a sustainable future.

Auto*mat is a Prague-based socio-cultural project, combining ecologists and artists, which seeks to highlight the problems of car culture

and to promote alternatives to driving through creativity. They aim to return the city to a dignified living space, free of poisonous

emissions, noise, and aggressive driving. The citizens of Prague can reclaim the public streets and celebrate mobility without cars.

Alternative Media

Indymedia is a collective of independent media organizations and hundreds of journalists from all over the world

offering an open-source democratic media outlet with grassroots, non-corporate coverage in many different languages.

SchNEWS is a free weekly alternative newspaper published produced by volunteer media activists in Brighton, England. An icon in

the alternative culture/activist scene in the UK, it includes Party and Protest listings, critical but often highly humourous front-line

reporting, a massive "yellow pages" of contacts and listings and great 'How To' guides on such things as housing co-ops,

Art=Action. The Prague-based but international Provokator aims to provide a grass roots magazine with an open format

focused on music, art, culture, social and political commentary, literature, film, photography and all forms of “New Media”.

Terapie.Info. We are a team of psychiatrists and psychologists, all with psychotherapeutic background and experience.

Czech Association of Art Therapy

Czech Psychoanalytic Society, (part of the International Psychoanalytical Association)

Fokus Prague's Extraart Expressive Therapies Centre in Brevnov, offers art therapy, drama therapy,

dance and movement therapy, music therapy, poetic therapy and circus. They also have a gallery.

Neuropsychoanalysis: Neuroscientists have begun to investigate various topics that have traditionally been the preserve

of psychoanalysts, which has produced an explosion of new insights into numerous problems of vital interest to psychoanalysis.

Because neuroscientists are tackling these complex psychological problems for the first time, they have much to learn from

a century of psychoanalytic inquiry. A need for sustained scientific rapprochement between researchers and clinicians

is essential to learn about and enhance each other's perspectives and knowledge on matters of mutual interest.

Human Nature Review aims to act as host to original work and to seek to create an enabling space, a forum for constructive

(including constructively critical) discussion and critiques of the terms of reference and assumptions of various approaches to

the understanding of people as individuals, in groups, in institutions, in societies and as political and ideological beings.    

The civic association DoNitra is a non-profit educational organization. They organise self-development programmes and courses.

They aim to be a space for developing creativity, meeting people, experiencing, self-reliance, responsibility, and environmental and community work.

Their activities and experiences came out of fifteen years of cooperation with Outward Bound, Summer School Lipnice, YMCA and Argo.

Community/Social Centres

Synergy is an umbrella organisation that seeks to bring together a wide variety or organisations in the fields of cultural,

environmental and development education to work together towards common goals, pooling expertise and resources to achieve a wider

and deeper impact than they would otherwise in isolation. Synergy follows the principle that global issues can be tackled at a community level,

by stimulating and facilitating creativity and independence and by promoting sustainability through education and by example, seeking to create a

common culture of environmental and social sustainability. Organises conscious parties in SeOne Club and workshops in the Synergy Centre.
