Anti Anti Fest Film Summaries

Zarovka (Light Bulb) (3:06) (tie for Best Editing). Directed by Adrian Kukal (Czech Republic) - B&W, 16 mm
Live action and stop-motion animation, based on a modern myth from South Bohemia,
where something sinister lurks in the shadow of the Temelin nuclear power plant.
Fish Eye (2:00) (Best in Show). Directed by Margot Buff (USA) - B&W, DV
A humorous semi-documentary about the loss of cultural heritage in Central Europe,
told from the wry, melancholy point of view of a character with everything to lose.
Shell Ear (13:00) (Honorable Mention). Directed by Satoru Sugita (Japan) - color, DV
Two musicians - a husband and wife - see their happiness slipping away as inexorably as
the change of seasons. A stark, artfully composed film that tells its story without words.
Untitled (Blue) (9:00) (Honorable Mention). Directed by John Campell (USA) (clay mation)
A carefully crafted stop-motion animation that draws on our oldest mythology: a young man has to leave
home and learn to find his own way in a dangerous world. But is he strong enough? Is he even a man at all?
Simona (5:00). Directed by Robert Collins (Digital Video)
A gypsy girl on the streets of Prague is about to have her first encounter with one of the beautiful city's uglier elements – racism.
Little Pickpocket (10:00). Directed by Asmara Beraki (USA)(film)
A young thief underestimates his victim. She's not as clueless as she looks, and she
makes sure that he learns something from his mistakes in this deceptively simple short.
Zmrzlina (10:00) (Best Cinematography). Directed by Alica Sulley (USA) (color, film)
Everyone loves ice cream, but it has many different meanings: nostalgia, childish fun, romance and sexuality.
The Anti Anti Fest winner for best cinematography, this visual poem drips with as much color and texture as a hot fudge sundae.
Gyros (3:47) (Best Concept). Directed by Shlomo Yaffe (Israel)- Digital Video
A vision of a popular restaurant and a story of it's secret seedier side.
Middle Management (10:00). Directed by Nadar Sobhan (Italy) -Digital Video
A business man finds himself in a loop of „no rest for the weary“.
A homage to psychological thrillers and the puzzling trappings of the rat race.
DO-IT-YOURSELF Film Festival (2:00). Directed by Margot Buff (USA)- Digital Video
An aggregated fast paced mini-doc of the background motivation,
madness and mayhem that is the backbone to the Anti Anti Film Festival.
Loretta (9:09) (tie for Best Editing). Directed by Calum Ferguson (UK) - color, DV
Jack is on a tight deadline to turn over his screenplay, but no matter where his imagination takes him - to a drug den, a speakeasy, a detective's
office or a lover's apartment - he can't escape the thought of Loretta. This genre-busting short packs a century of cinematic styles into ten minutes.
I am Dying (7:47). Directed by Adrian Kukal (Czech Republic)- Digital Video
From a mysterious observer's eye we watch an industrial, over populated nightmare.
Colors run from the screen to dull black & white leaving the last to be touched in a monchromatic world.
Mr.Boom (7:55). Directed by Paolo Avenati (Italy)- Digital Video
An interview with a „celebrated“ boom microphone reveals a here-to-fore unknown side of the film industry.
Mr.Boom comes from behind the scenes to tell all about the more subtle sounds of stardom.

Total Viewing Time: 91 min. 64 sec.
